Yet, the tragedy is that the opportunity existed. In 2012, Criterion Games released Need for Speed: Most Wanted on PS Vita, a near-faithful port of the console version. It proved that the Vita could handle open-world arcade racing at 30fps with full traffic and physics. If that engine had been back-ported to Underground 2 ’s map and car list, the Vita would have received its killer app. Instead, Sony abandoned the handheld to remote play, leaving racing fans with a library of decent but not definitive ports.
