The catalyst for the disaster is a marvel of ironic stupidity. To create a "snow effect" for the wealthy occupants, the building’s corrupt management uses a helicopter to spray artificial snow. Due to a combination of mechanical failure and human arrogance, the helicopter crashes directly into the building’s 50th floor, rupturing fuel tanks and igniting a firestorm.
The disaster strikes when a helicopter, hired to spray artificial snow over the party, loses control due to high winds and crashes into one of the towers. What follows is a terrifying chain reaction of explosions and fire that traps thousands of people hundreds of feet in the air.
