Sonic the Hedgehog (often retroactively referred to as Sonic ‘06 ) is an action-platformer developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. Released in November 2006 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it was intended to be a major reboot of the Sonic franchise for the seventh console generation. However, due to a rushed development cycle (approximately two years), the game shipped in an unfinished, bug-ridden state, leading to overwhelmingly negative critical and fan reception.
