Directed by Mikael Håfström and starring and Samuel L. Jackson , 1408 was released in 2007. The plot follows Mike Enslin (Cusack), a cynical paranormal investigator who writes books debunking haunted houses. He checks into the infamous Dolphin Hotel’s Room 1408—a room that has recorded 56 unexplained deaths. Despite warnings from the hotel manager (Jackson), Enslin enters the room, only to find himself trapped in a nightmarish loop of psychological torture, hallucinations, and terror.
Once inside, the haunting begins subtly (radio playing "We've Only Just Begun") before escalating into physical distortions, extreme temperature changes, and psychological torture involving Enslin's deceased daughter.
