Abstract: Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), directed by Advait Chandan and starring Aamir Khan, is an Indian adaptation of the American film Forrest Gump (1994). This paper examines how Laal Singh Chaddha transposes Forrest Gump’s themes—innocence, historical entanglement, and personal destiny—into an Indian socio-political and cultural framework. The analysis addresses narrative choices, characterization, cinematic techniques, music, and audience reception, arguing that while the film preserves the source material’s emotive core, it negotiates differing cultural registers that both enrich and complicate the adaptation.
